Use the label to understand historical support, then inspect the course, round, quota and costs.
A fit label is historical context
Safe, Moderate and Ambitious describe how a rank compares with the history available to the tool. They are not admission probabilities, guaranteed seats or statements about current availability. Candidate preferences, offerings, participation and rules can change.
A smaller numerical rank is better. Reaching a historical closing rank does not establish that you would have received that allotment: eligibility, choices and the actual round also matter. Use several acceptable options instead of relying on one label.
How the All India guide uses the labels
AIQ comparisons use supplied MCC observations from 2023–2025. Safe requires the rank to fit the lower planning bound of a stable Round 1 or Round 2 estimate supported by at least two observed years. Later rounds do not become Safe just because a late closing rank was high.
Moderate means the rank fits a regular-round point estimate without satisfying all Safe conditions. Ambitious means it fits an upper planning bound, or is supported only by recorded stray history. The underlying estimates use exact historical routes; candidate institution aliases are not automatically merged.
Why the displayed closing AIR can look different
The main table shows an actual recorded 2025 closing rank for the supporting round. A historical estimate can use more than that one record. The closing AIR column therefore is not the estimated boundary used for every fit label.
Open + History to inspect the 2025 opening and closing ranks by round. Keep the round, course, allotted category and quota together when comparing records. A missing observation is a missing exact record, not proof that a course was unavailable.
UP has one year of evidence
The UP guide uses supplied 2025 state merit ranks rather than the three-year AIQ model. Safe means the rank fits at least two regular recorded rounds, Moderate one regular round, and Ambitious only the Stray comparison.
When AIR is entered for UP, the tool converts it using the supplied historical mapping before comparison. Prefer your official state merit rank when available. Do not interpret an estimated state rank or a one-year label as a calibrated current-year chance.
Use bands to research, not to decide your official order
A sensible shortlist can include options across all three bands if you are willing and eligible to join them. Filter by the course, state, fees and bond information you need, then compare what is known and what still needs confirmation.
RankGood’s visitor and verified-email previews are fixed, balanced subsets. Filters show full matching counts but do not expose locked choices. Save unlocked options, add your questions and use the current official seat matrix and rules before making a final list.
Put your research into practice
Compare historical options, check available financial references and save the choices your access permits.
