All India and state NEET PG counselling: compare the right route

Understand counselling route, AIR, state merit rank, quota and allotted category before comparing MCC and Uttar Pradesh PG options.

The same college or course can appear in different counselling contexts. Route and rank scale matter.

Identify the authority and counselling route

Start with the authority conducting the counselling and the route under which the seat is offered. MCC PG publications and state counselling publications are separate sources. Do not infer eligibility for one process from an allotment in another.

The college’s location is not its quota. A college in a particular state can appear in an All India comparison. State quota, institutional quota and private or other seat types require the relevant current prospectus; they are not interchangeable labels.

AIR and state merit rank use different scales

NEET PG All India Rank describes position on the national rank scale. A state merit rank describes position on that state’s published merit list. A numerical state rank cannot be compared directly with an MCC closing AIR.

For RankGood’s All India guide, enter AIR. For Uttar Pradesh, use your actual state merit rank when available or enter AIR for a historical conversion estimate. That estimate does not create an official current state merit position.

Distinguish candidate category from allotted category

Your category is part of your profile. The category shown beside a historical result describes the allotted seat. A reserved-category candidate can have an Open allotment, so those fields should not be treated as the same thing.

Eligibility depends on the current authority’s definitions, documents and rules, including any PwD or special-category conditions. Read the exact published category and quota labels instead of interpreting a short code without context.

What the two RankGood guides cover

The All India guide uses supplied MCC AIQ allotments from 2023, 2024 and 2025. The Uttar Pradesh guide uses supplied 2025 state allotments and the supplied AIR-to-state-rank mapping. Their fit-label rules and rank scales differ because the supporting histories differ.

In the UP guide, government options depend on the declared UP state-quota selection; private options are compared for other candidates too. Government DNB/NBEMS and unreviewed special-category codes are excluded. These are this tool’s reviewed dataset rules, not an independent determination of your official eligibility.

Keep registration and deadlines separate

Researching routes on RankGood does not register you for MCC or state counselling. Check each authority’s current registration instructions, payments, documents, round conditions and deadlines. A historical result is not evidence that a seat is currently offered.

Record the route alongside every saved choice so you do not compare a state closing rank, MCC AIR and a fee from another quota as one option. Use official publications to resolve any uncertainty before submitting choices.

Put your research into practice

Compare historical options, check available financial references and save the choices your access permits.
